As an artist and educator, my goal is for students to find the freedom to pursue creative exploration in my classroom. This requires self-reflection, curiosity and collaboration. In order to engage students in this way, I foster an environment that supports artistic risk grounded in intellectual rigor.
I teach the way that I direct theatre. First, I create an environment that sets up clear expectations. Second, I bring enthusiasm and energy in spades while leaving ego at the door. Third, I foster and support the specific needs of the room. I create a learning environment where, as the teacher, I can set up opportunities for discoveries.
